M.S Dhoni’s golden run at last coming to an end

-Jagrick dey

For the very first time M.S Dhoni led IPL team is not in the play-offs!! Just after winning the first ever World T20 Championship for India, M.S Dhoni the captain of the Men in Blue had to wear yellow jersey for the first edition of Indian Premier League. He was the captain of Chennai Super Kings. He was extremely successful in running the team as a well oiled machine. His trusted marshals Suresh Raina,Muttiah Muralitharan, Makhaya Ntini and Dhoni himself  performed very well to reach in the finals. After that they won two IPL,along with two Champions League T20 titles. IPL was a very happy hunting ground for Dhoni then.

¬†But, unfortunately the Whistle Podu could not participate in this year’s IPL as on 14 July 2015, the Supreme Court appointed RM Lodha committee suspended the owners of Chennai Super Kings from the Indian Premier League for a period of two years for alleged involvement in spot-fixing and betting. Dhoni had to move to a new franchise named the Rising Pune Super Giants.

Dhoni's golden run at last coming to an end

Dhoni’s team Rising pune comes bottom postion in IPL season 9

This year Dhoni just managed to score only 220 runs for his team in 13 matches. The team is not performing well. They lost their key overseas players like Kevin Peitersen, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and Faf Du Plessis and forgot how to win.

Now here is the captains role. When Dhoni lifted the T20 World cup in 2007,there was no such superstars in the team. Dhoni led his team from the front. In this ninth edition of IPL Dhoni is looking for support. They lost 8 in 11 matches.

Perhaps one of the biggest mistakes Dhoni made in this tournament is batting down the order than he usually does. There was no place for Irfan Pathan despite being India’s one of the most successful all-rounder in domestic cricket. But Dhoni is a superstar. He might be having his worst IPL season as a captain as well as a player but he will surely bounce back. He will lead his side from the front, that will help the Pune franchise as well as the Indian Cricket Team.
