Novak Djokovic world’s no.1 exits in third round.
After winning thirty Grand Slam matches Novak Djokovic got defeated by Sam Querrey in Wimbledon 2016. The defending champion and World No.1 was beaten 6-7 1-6 6-3 6-7 in a pulsating rain-delayed third round clash. Djokovic was in his dream form. He won French Open and started to dream to have a calendar Grand Slam.
Querrey not only played well but also they hold his nerves as the match suspended for rain on Friday. Querrey slammed 31 Aces in the match that was incredible. Djokovic was two sets down when the match was suspended on Friday. He came back Saturday but, it was not strong enough to beat the American. Novak got 4-0 lead when the play started on Saturday. Rain came again and interrupted the play but, after two hours it was all clear. Fourth set was very even at one game all; Djokovic broke a service of Sam. But in eleventh game Sam came back and broke Djokovic service. The set went into the tiebreakers. Novak started well again but lost the momentum when his opponent made it three all. Sam did wonderful job when he got a point after playing 22 stroke rallies and made the tiebreaker equal again.
It was Novak’s first third round exit since 2009. Djokivic praised Sam for playing brutal tennis. He also said the he will look to focus on his feature.
