Ranti Martins, top goal scorer in the last season of I-League going to play for Penang FA. Penang is a Malaysian Super league team established in 1920. This club finished as runners up last season in Malaysian Super league and stepped into the quarter final of Malaysia FA Cup.
Ranti is the best ever foreign striker ever played in India.This Nigerian striker expected a call from Indian club officials. Ghanaian club King Faisal Babes was his first club. In 2004 he joined Dempo. He won three I league, two National League, two Calcutta League (for East Bengal) one Federation cup and a Durand cup title. He achieved foreigner player of the year in two consecutive seasons (2011-12, 2012-13) .He finished as the top scorer of the I-League in five of the last six seasons and is the all time highest scorer in the competition. He scored 36 goals in 29 matches for East Bengal. This Nigerian goal machine played for United Sports and Rangdajied United as well. He scored 198 goals in 213 matches for various clubs in India.
Martins got a chance to play for his U-20 national team. But, Dempo President failed to tell him on time. In 2003 Martins was using a Ghanaian passport from which his agent gave him and at one point he was offered the chance to join the Ghana U17s for the 2005 African U-17 Championship qualifiers.However Martins rejected the offer due to his loyalty towards Nigeria.
Ranti played in Indian Super League (ISL) for FC Goa. But failed to score goals in seven matches. Ranti has a very good record but now he have to prove his talent in a different condition. It can be very challenging for him specially after playing so much football in Indian conditions. But, he his a highly professional player he know how to cope up with the new conditions, players, officials as well.
